Stormy Weather
And
The Land of the Angels

By: Toi Kai Watson

Ever hear about people who are labeled weird because they’re always having premonitions or sensing things? Some of them even go so far as to see and hear things other people can’t, but it’s not their fault. They are gifted people with a unique talent and so-called weird stuff just seems to happen to them.

I guess by now you can tell I’m one of those people, even though I don’t consider myself weird at all.  I believe things like that happen to everyone at least once, they just don’t talk about it; but  you can understand why.  Sometimes it’s kind of funny so they don’t mind telling it. Other times it can be inspirational and they can’t wait to share it. But most times it is so bizarre they wouldn’t tell it if you paid them. Well that’s what happened when I met Stormy Weather, although as I’ve said before, these things have happened to me all my life.

Take for instance the time I had this crazy dream about a classmate. First she was floating down the halls in this big red dress, then all of a sudden she started yelling her head off and that big dress swallowed her up whole. Well it wasn’t a week later that old boyfriend of hers doused her with gasoline, set her on fire and killed her. Now that was spooky, but it wasn’t the worst. Before I met Stormy Weather, the craziest thing that ever happened  to me was the time my grandmother called to say goodbye.

It was one night after football practice and the phone rang as soon as I got in.

Her voice was already soft, but this time she sounded like she was shouting through a tunnel. Although it was  really hard to hear her I could understand that she was going away.  And she didn’t say where she was going, just that she loved me and had to go.

Mom was at the sink washing dishes at the time and asked who it was.  When I said it was grandma she almost dropped a plate.  Come to find out my grandmother had died that morning at home.  My  folks were just waiting for me to get home so they could tell me together.
